We had a great start for our membership drive this year. Thank you to everyone that has already signed up. Being a member is crucial to achieving our goal to raise over $5,000 so we can provide academic supplies for teachers and staff and support for many other programs, like sports, art and welding. This year you can pay online through our website. You can go to www.fophs.org and click on the DONATE button on the front page or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org for a form to be emailed to you.
We always encourage parents to get involved so please come to one of our meetings this year and find out what FOPHS is all about. Attending the meeting allows you to hear, in more depth, what’s going on at PHS, ask questions and get an update from our principal, Mr. Efstathiu, who also attends regularly.
This year the following position(s) are open on the committee:
Grad Night Coordinator – Oversee details for senior grad night and work with volunteers to fundraise, design and decorate, staff the event etc..
Newsletter Coordinator – Manage monthly newsletter and general communication to parent members including deadlines, article submissions and design of newsletter.
So stay connected to what is going on at the school and come to our next board meeting, October 7th at 6:30pm in the staff lounge upstairs above the school office. Thank you in advance for your support!

We would like to welcome all new and returning parents to Placer High. We are off to a great and busy start! The Friends of Placer High School (FOPHS) is your parent organization and we have two objectives. Our First objective is to raise money to support the school. The primary way we do this is through membership, and our membership drive is in full swing! Your membership in FOPHS is a very powerful way for you to directly impact the learning/teaching environment at PHS. Membership dollars go towards granting wish list items, brought to us by the teachers, for needed materials not currently funded. Every year we are able to provide great enhancement to the classrooms through your generosity. We would like to ask you to please join FOPHS by making a donation of $25.00 (+/-). Considering students will be in school for 180 days and for a total of 1250+ hours, this breaks down to a mere 14 cents a day. That’s a great investment into your school.
This year you can pay online through our website. Go to www.fophs.org and click on the DONATE button on the front page, or send an email to email@example.com for a form to be emailed to you.
An additional way you can support FOPHS is by joining/using our Scrip programs, which include: Raleys/Bel Air, Savemart, Safeway, and Target. It’s easy! Please ask us for information about Scrip.
Our second objective is to provide information to the FOPHS members via email, web or newsletter. This wonderfully informative newsletter is the only newsletter generated to keep you abreast of what’s happening on campus.
Come to a meeting and see what we are all about. Attending the meeting allows you to hear, in more depth, what’s going on at PHS, ask questions, get updates and also hear from our principal, Mr. Efstathiu, who attends regularly. Our first meeting is September 2nd at 6:30pm in the staff lounge upstairs above the school office.
This year the following position(s) are open on the committee:
Grad Night Coordinator – Oversee details for senior grad night and work with volunteers to plan, fundraise, design, decorate and staff the event.
Thank you in advance for your support. We look forward to meeting you!

Again, we would like to thank all the parents who signed up to be a member this year and gave a donation. Your membership helps to support the teacher wish lists. With the monies we have raised so far, we were able to fund the teacher wish list of $3,600 and raise over $8,000 for the sports program from the Casino Night fundraiser. We continue to raise more funds with our $5 drive launched January to support the remaining wish lists items. If you have not had a chance to donate, please send your donation into the office to $5 drive c/o FOPHS.
The wish list this year is over $5,000 in requests that supports many classrooms from Science, Math, English to Mechatronics, Art, Print making and much more. This year, we were able to buy the following items for the school:
||DVD Learning materials classrooms
||Caesar learning materials
||Educational Posters for classroom
||French Language Materials
We encourage to get involved it is a great way to stay informed what is going on around the school. You can come to our next board on March 4th at 6:30pm in the staff lounge to hear what we have planned along with Mr. E and what is happening within the school and district.

We would like to thank all the parents who signed up to be a member this year and gave a donation. Your membership helps to support the teacher wish lists. The wish list this year is over $5,000 in requests that supports many classrooms from science, math, english to mechatronics, art, print making and much more. Our goal was to raise at least $5,000 and we are still $2,700 shy of our goal. Any donation matters, so we are kicking off the $5 membership drive in early January to support what $5 can do to support the school. Keep an eye out for your letter and if possible send your $5.00 donation in to FOPHS.
I would like to thank everyone who supported the Casino Night fundraiser for the Placer athletic program. We had a great event with over 100 people that attended. We are finalizing all the numbers and hope to share our results later in the month. I would like to recognize businesses and individuals you sponsored or donated to the event. Our community steps up every year to support Placer for all its fundraisers so as you shop for the holidays remember their support for Placer and shop local as a thank you.

Casino Night on the “Hill” is 1 week away and so we are counting down the days. This event supports the sports program and is critical to helping the budget shortfall. Over the past 3 years, we have raised over $25,000 for sports. Our goal this year is to raise $15,000.
The event will be held on November 8th from 6:30 to 11:00pm at the Gold Country Fairgrounds in the Tahoe Building and includes casino games, food and drinks, silent auction, raffle and much more. You can buy your tickets by going to the Placer Website and clicking on the casino night link on the homepage to purchase online. You can also call myself at 916-952-1019 or go to the FOPHS webpage and or go to Brown Paper Tickets. So come out and have some fun!
Thank you to those that have signed up to be a member of FOPHS. Your donations support the teachers wish list each year. This list Teachers are given the opportunity to make a wish list request from FOPHS to ask for items that would enrich a student’s education. We have been able to provide many requests over the years thanks to parents that donated to the membership drive.
The wish list includes many items for mechatronics, science, art, math, English and much more. So if you have not signed up to be a member do so; we take any donation. As little as $5.00 matters when granting the wishes. Look for the wish lists items in the December newsletter that were provided to school.
Happy Thanksgiving and we look forward to seeing or hearing from you at our next meeting November 5th, 2014 at 6:30pm in the staff lounge. Thank you again for all of you that support FOPHS and the school.

As we wrap up the year, we say goodbye to two parents that have meant a lot to the Friends of Placer High School parent organization. Sylvia Fisk and Shellie Wright have been involved with the parent organization for the past three years and have been a big part of our organization. We will miss them at the many school activities they were involved with and wish them well as they start a new chapter in their lives.
We close the year with many successes but most important was the parent involvement and increase of new parents that stepped up to be a part of the parent organization. We look forward to next year and achieving our fundraising goals to increase membership and monies to support the teacher wish lists, sports, art, welding and much more.
We will start the year with some key events to highlight so mark your calendars because we want you there….
