November Newsletter and Message from Our President

Dear Placer High School Families: We have been able to provide school support over the years thanks to parents that have donated to the membership drive. Your donations support the teachers wish list each year. Teachers are given the opportunity to make a wish list request from FOPHS to ask for items that would enrich a student’s education. This year, the wish list includes books, calculators, drills for Mechatronics, frames for the art department, specimens for Anatomy, soil testing kits for Environmental Science, and a field trip to the Crocker Art Museum for Humanities. We are still working towards our goal to raise over $5,000 in membership so we can continue support the teachers, classrooms, and activities at placer High School. If you have not become a member yet, it is not too late. To become a member, you can go to www.fophs.org and click on the DONATE button on the front page or send an email to fophsnpo@puhsd.k12.ca.us for a form to be emailed to you.

Sincerely, Lisa Voss

Dear Hillmen Families,
Welcome back to school for 2017-18! I am so excited that we had such a great
turnout at Back to School Night, as well as to our first FOPHS meeting. We had some
new parents step up and fill some empty board positions and volunteer to help with
some other roles as well. We LOVE seeing new people at our meetings! We so
appreciate the input.
Our next meeting is next Wednesday, October 4 at 6:30 in the staff room. We are still
in dire need of a Grad Night chair. If you feel you have a talent in this area and would
like to help keep this life saving program alive, please come to our meeting or email
me at voss.lisa@ymail.com.
Currently we are rolling right along with early plans for Pie Day, Wish List granting,
and our Spring Fundraiser. Come join the fun!
Thank you,
Lisa Voss

December January Newsletter 2016-2017

Dear Placer Families,

Happy New Year from Friends of Placer High School! Fall semester seems to have gone by in a flash! I hope everyone had a restful break. Spring semes-ter is in full swing and so is planning for the Green and Gold Food and Wine Festival. The committee is in need of volunteers, donations, and sponsors. If you have something you or your business could donate for our silent auction or raffle, please send us an email and we will be in touch as soon as possible! Remember, this is our main fundraiser that funds the wish list for the teachers every year.

Grad Night committee is also speeding up activities. Sponsor letters will be going out this week and letters to seniors will go out at the beginning of Febru-ary. Volunteers are still needed for this amazing event, especially parents of 9-11 graders so that they can see how it is all done and we can continue to offer this to future classes at Placer. Grad Night keeps students safe!

Our meetings are the first Wednesday of every month at 6:30 in the Staff lounge. We would love it if you would come by and introduce yourself! Our next meeting is February 1st.

Thank you,
Lisa Voss

September Newsletter and message from our Outgoing President and VP

September Newsletter 20162017

Dear Placer High School Families,
I would like to welcome all the new and returning parents to Placer. The Friends of Placer High School Organization has two objectives, first to provide information to the parents via email, web or newsletter and secondly, raise monies to support the school. Over the years, FOPHS has been able to support such activities as the wish lists for teachers and staff not funded by the school, i.e., Senior Grad night, athletic programs and much more. We raise monies thru our membership drive, SCRIP programs such as Raleys/Bel Air, Savemart and Safeway, an annual fundraising event and general donations from the community. We have kicked off our membership drive and asked you to consider becoming a member and making a donation. Being a member is crucial to achieving our goal to raise over $5,000 so we can provide academic supplies for teachers and staff and support for many other programs, like sports, art and welding. This year you can pay online through our website. We always encourage parents to get involved so please come to one of our meetings this year and find out what FOPHS is all about. Attending the meeting allows you to hear, in more depth, what’s going on at PHS, ask questions and get an update from our principal, Mr. Efstathiu, who also attends regularly. Our first meeting is September 7th at 6:30 pm in the staff lounge upstairs above the school office. We have new board members that will assume their position on September 7th.

Please welcome….  Lisa Voss as our new President  Danelle Stumbo as our new Vice President  Melissa Bauer as our new Secretary  Ayn Loehr as our new Newsletter Chair Thank you in advance for your support!
