Hello Placer Families!
Happy Spring! Thank you to all of the people who came to our Wine and Food fundraiser last month. It was a huge success that raised several thousand dollars for the Teacher Wish Lists! Special thanks to Sue Compton, our chair who did a wonderful job organizing the event.
We will have a few upcoming board positions on the Friends of Placer High School Board. We will need a new Grad Night Chair, a Scrip organizer (most or all done at home!), and we would like to get someone to shadow our treasurer and train to start that job next spring!
Please come to one of our meetings! We meet the first Wednesday of each month and we would love to have you!

Happy (Almost) Spring Hillmen families! FOPHS is busy getting ready to host the Annual Green and Gold fundraiser on March 18th. This will be a wine and food tasting event with several local restaurants and wineries sharing their deliciousness! This is FOPHS’ only fundraiser and supports the Placer Teachers’ wish list. Last year we raised $13,000 for the wish list and granted every wish on it. Please consider attending this year. It is a great time and a great date night! Grad Night Committee is in full swing and looking for someone to take over the reins next year. If you are a parent of a freshman or sophomore, consider getting involved in this great event. Grad night keeps our grads off the roads in supervised activities overnight. There is a different theme each year and the students really love it! We would love to have you at one of our meetings. They are held the first Wednesday of every month at 6:30 in the staff lounge!

Be sure to enjoy a tasting with this wonderful winery at our March 18th event.
PaZa Estate Winery is on the Placer Wine Trail, half‐way between Auburn, Newcastle, and Lincoln. Pamela and Zane Dobson planted their vineyard ten years ago with friends and family, and they’ve been making award winning wines since the very first vintage. They’ve been open almost every weekend for over 5‐years now. Their rustically elegant tasting shed is positioned right next to the vineyard, where you can enjoy relaxing views in the picnic area. They produce Petite Sirah, Primitivo, Barbera, Zin, Rose, and Albarino.

Throughout the ‘90s he lived to race, spending many weekends every year with the Porsche Club or other racing organizations. Pamela’s a California girl, with a career of over 40‐years in retail grocery industry. She was an avid bicyclist, long‐distance hiker, and snow skier for many years, and participated in numerous long distance bike races as well as multi day cross‐country hikes.

Dear Placer Families,
Happy New Year from Friends of Placer High School! Fall semester seems to have gone by in a flash! I hope everyone had a restful break. Spring semes-ter is in full swing and so is planning for the Green and Gold Food and Wine Festival. The committee is in need of volunteers, donations, and sponsors. If you have something you or your business could donate for our silent auction or raffle, please send us an email and we will be in touch as soon as possible! Remember, this is our main fundraiser that funds the wish list for the teachers every year.
Grad Night committee is also speeding up activities. Sponsor letters will be going out this week and letters to seniors will go out at the beginning of Febru-ary. Volunteers are still needed for this amazing event, especially parents of 9-11 graders so that they can see how it is all done and we can continue to offer this to future classes at Placer. Grad Night keeps students safe!
Our meetings are the first Wednesday of every month at 6:30 in the Staff lounge. We would love it if you would come by and introduce yourself! Our next meeting is February 1st.
Dear Placer High School Families:
We have been able to provide school support over the years thanks to parents that have donated to the membership drive. Your donations support the teachers wish list each year. Teachers are given the opportunity to make a wish list request from FOPHS to ask for items that would enrich a student’s education. This year, the wish list included contribution to the kiln in Ceramics, a standing desk, readers for Spanish, lab items for biology and chemistry, Physics lab supplies, English resource books and and literary posters for classrooms.
We are still working towards our goal to raise over $5,000 in membership so we can continue to support the teachers, classrooms, and activities at placer High School. If you have not become a member yet, it is not too late. To become a member, you can go to www.fophs.org and click on the DONATE button on the front page or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org for a form to be emailed to you. We always encourage parents to get involved please come to one of our meetings this year and find out what FOPHS is all about. Attending the meeting allows you to hear, in more depth, what’s going on at PHS, ask questions and get an update from our principal, Mr. Caminiti, who also attends regularly. Last month we got a tour of Placer’s 21st century classroom.
We need committee members for both our Grad Night Committee and our Spring Fundraiser!
So stay connected to what is going on at the school and come to our next board meeting, Meetings are the first Wednesday of every month at 6:30pm in the staff lounge upstairs above the school office. Thank you in advance for your support!
Sincerely, Lisa Voss, FOPHS President
